Work Begins on Hotel Renovations
The iconic Summit hotel in Manitou Springs, Colorado is getting a facelift — on the backside.
Work is underway to renovate the rear of the hotel, which will feature a new, elevated deck, better access to the building for people with disabilities, and an improved aesthetic. The rear patio area is a popular spot for meals during Summit’s summer student conferences, so the changes will enhance the experience for students.
The most noticeable aspect will be a brand new deck, sitting 11 feet off the ground and which will grow the seating capacity in the patio area.
According to Adam Hinkle, who’s managing the project, other functional improvement will include:
- Better-defined spaces between the patio and parking area
- New paving
- Better drainage, making sure water run-off from a heavy storm doesn’t pool around the hotel
The renovations are set to be finished by the first student conference in May. Check the Summit website throughout the spring for more updates and pictures of the progress.

A hotel is an establishment that provides lodging paid on a short-term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities, including en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning or climate control.
