Poll: Majority of Voters Say Introducing LGBTQ Issues to Children Hurts Their Development

Tik Tok Generation Most Likely to Believe Introducing LGBTQ Issue to Kids is Helpful and Good-Intentioned

(Manitou Springs, CO—June 26, 2023) Summit.org, in partnership with McLaughlin and Associates—one of America’s most respected polling survey firms—is releasing the results of a recent national survey. Results were from a survey of 1,000 likely general election voters nationwide and was conducted June 15th through June 19th.

“We’ve suspected for a long time that most Americans think it hurts kids when the culture sexualizes them in the name of left-wing progressivism. This poll reveals that the vast majority of voters share this concern,” said Dr. Jeff Myers, President of Summit.org and co-author of the new eBook Exposing the Gender Lie: How to Protect Children and Teens from the Transgender Industry’s False Ideology. “While most Americans are rightfully suspicious of the claims that proponents of drag shows, transgenderism, and LGBTQ+ themes are just trying to help kids, this polling confirms what we’ve seen in our research—some social media platforms are being used more than others to normalize the early sexualization of kids.”

All interviews were conducted online; survey invitations were distributed randomly within predetermined geographic units. These units were structured to correlate with actual voter turnout in the general election. This poll of 1,000 general election voters has an accuracy of +/- 3.1% at a 95% confidence interval.

KEY INSIGHT: Majority of American Voters With an Opinion on the Issue Say Introducing Children to Ideas Like Transgenderism, Drag Shows and LGBTQ+ Themes Negatively Impacts Their Development:

  • 61 percent of voters with an opinion on the issue say introducing young children to ideas like transgenderism, drag shows, and LGBTQ+ themes hurts their emotional and psychological development. 
  • 39 percent of voters with an opinion on the issue say introducing young children to ideas like transgenderism, drag shows, and LGBTQ+ themes helps their emotional and psychological development. 

KEY INSIGHT: Majority of American Voters With an Opinion on the Issue Believe Those Advocating for Introducing Children to Ideas Like Transgenderism, Drag Shows, and LGBTQ+ Themes Have Ulterior Motive:

  • 63 percent of voters with an opinion on the issue believe that people introducing ideas like transgenderism, drag shows, and LGBTQ+ themes to children are motivated by a desire to push a specific cultural agenda.
  • 37 percent of voters with an opinion on the issue believe that people introducing ideas like transgenderism, drag shows, and LGBTQ+ themes to children are motivated by a desire to help children.

KEY INSIGHT: Tik Tok Generation Most Likely to Believe That Introducing  LGBTQ+, Transgenderism, and Drag Shows to Children are Helpful to Kids and Done with Good Intentions:

  • 50.3 percent of Tik Tok users say introducing young children to ideas like transgenderism, drag shows, and LGBTQ+ themes helps their emotional and psychological development, compared to only 33.8 of Facebook users.
  • 44.9 percent of Tik Tok users believe that people introducing ideas like transgenderism, drag shows, and LGBTQ+ themes to children are motivated by a desire to help children, compared to only 31.4 percent of Facebook users.
