Blogs - Summit Semester
September 08, 2007
The scene is set for a beautiful, intellectually stimulating adventure which we will never forget. Summit Semester is getting under way here at Snow Wolf Lodge nestled at the edge of the San Juan National Forest near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and the anticipation continues to grow as we learn more about how the next three months will be spent. The past few days we have been getting to know one another in different ways: engaging each other in various discussions, working together to improve the property, and determining our family values which set the standard of living within our group. The diversity of people here promises to make life together an interesting and rewarding experience; spanning the country from Rhode Island to Washington, twenty-one students have arrived here to obtain a fuller love for God through wisdom. One main objective within the semester is to show that if Christ is Lord, He is Lord over all. He is not only Lord of the Church, but also Lord of the Arts, Literature, and Politics. During the next few months our small community here will attempt to tackle many of the difficult and pertinent questions of life many people avoid. Accordingly, this semester offers an environment that fosters studying, discipline, discussion, and an earnestness to understand a Christian worldview. We will learn how to live within such a framework and what that framework comprises. We have chosen to take the time to be less productive, by worldly or even Church standards, in order to learn how to better think, learn, and live. In essence, we desire to develop a love for the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
