Kamaal Amsden (Session 1)

Summit Student Conference Kamaal Amsden 2013 Colorado Session 1I really was not sure what to expect upon my arrival at Summit Ministries. All I knew was that I was excited to see what God had in store for me. In the last few years God has slowly been showing me that I have a passion for motivational speaking. When I shared this with my family my dad started mentioning a place called Summit Ministries and suggesting that I should go. I wasn’t sure at first, but after I had read some of the materials, I knew, without a doubt, that I had to go to the student conferences.

I have only been here for two days, but it has already touched my heart in very deep ways. I never figured I would listen to someone speak who really understood what I have been battling in my mind. Nabeel Qureshi, a former Muslim turned Christian apologist, is a powerful speaker and a man of God. He spoke today about the foundations of Islam and Christianity while also drawing from his personal experience with Islam.

I’ve learned so much over these last few days, but one thing that has really stuck out to me — something I am still pondering — is something I heard in class yesterday. One of our speakers told us, “God’s will is not like an Easter egg hunt.” You don’t go searching for His will; it just happens.

I really encourage anyone who is thinking of attending a Summit conference to go! I am so blessed to be here, and I am also grateful for the hospitality I have been shown by all the staff. Thanks guys and gals!
