This stunning testimony came last week from a dad named Greg, whose son is like Daniel in the Old Testament, boldly taking Christ into places where most fear to go. It all started with two weeks at Summit Conference:
Here’s a Summit story that I think will bless you. Growing up as a pastor’s kid, my son John “prayed the prayer” and got baptized when he was very young. But I recently asked him when he thought he was actually born again.
He told me that at Summit the summer before his senior year in high school, one night about 2:30 in the morning, he was sitting in the dark and began talking with the Lord. He thought through everything he’d heard at Summit over the past few days. He realized he needed to decide which path he was going to take. There in his bunk bed, he cried out to the Lord for forgiveness and eternal life and committed himself to follow Jesus wherever He led.
When he awoke the next morning John opened his Bible and began to read as if he’d never really read it before. An authentic love for Jesus had entered his heart. This was new life! The rest of John’s time at Summit was great and his senior year was phenomenal! He started an evangelistic Bible study that met at our home every Thursday night. Young people of all kinds came: football players, cheerleaders, Mormons, Hindus, atheists, and homosexuals.
Just the other night John went to a meeting set up by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia in San Fransisco. By the end of the night, he’d shared the gospel with fifteen Muslim young men who kept wanting to talk even when he gave them the opportunity to change the subject.
There’s so much more I could share, but I mainly just wanted to tell the pivotal part that Summit played in my son’s life. May God bless you and Summit with protection, provision, the Holy Spirit’s power, and the aroma of Christ in all you do!
