In this lecture Paul Copan deals with Acts 17:16–34, giving some background on the Apostle Paul’s speech at Mars Hill, highlighting several reasons for belief in the one true God. Copan draws out practical lessons relating to worldview and cross-cultural communication. These include distinguishing between the person and his or her beliefs, utilizing philosophical and scientific arguments, and giving historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. He goes on to extract several theological truths from Paul’s comments on the altar to an unknown God, as well as general insights on evangelism and political engagement from Paul’s example.
