This week's program doesn't deal with having an ear for music but rather the tone of how Christians discuss life. In other words, is there only one type of tone - an encouraging, uplifting, hopeful, and happy one -- with which Christians should speak because anything else is too negative and judgmental, a turn-off to non-Christians, even hateful, and downright unbiblical?

Consider this recent commenter on TheChristianWorldview.com:

In a little over a week of reading here I am able to discern a lot about what Christians are against including homosexuals, Tony Campolo, The Shack, Barack Obama, liberals, public schools, environmentalists... Is this really how we want to be defined? ... I know we're more than what we're against but tell me how any non-Christian reading this website would ever determine that? I think it would be pretty darn near impossible to find God's love and Jesus' hope -- and we as Christians need it too. Being cynical and being against stuff is really appealing to our baser nature. It's what our itching ears crave to hear -- "what's wrong and who's doing it and aren't we better!" It's why conservative talk radio is so popular and it's why we can get so fired up about homosexuals and Obama when the real world is hurting right next door.

In other words, should Christians only speak out about what we're for -- like loving one another, helping the poor and needy, the hope in Christ -- and avoid being against things?

On the other hand, we see examples in Scripture where Jesus Christ strongly rebuked and pronounced "woe" on the legalistic Pharisees, Old Testament prophets spoke judgment upon apostate Israel and foreign nations, and the apostle Paul used biting sarcasm with the Corinthian church, the same church to whom he wrote a chapter on the preeminence of love.

So what should our tone be as Christians? Is it right or wrong for Christians today to be tone deaf to any type of "discouraging word." And what does it mean to "speak the truth in love?"

It's easy for Christians to point fingers at the homo-revolution taking place in America, but by all accounts, the church has a major hetero-immorality problem as well...and seems pretty indifferent about it.

While statistics can be inaccurate or misinterpreted, it's safe to say that far too many professing Christians are either involved in extra-marital sex or pornography or have been divorced for less than biblical reasons (yes, I know, some think there are no biblical grounds for divorce but that's for another show).

Maybe more disturbing is the changing attitudes within the church about sinful behaviors such as living together before marriage or the lack of preaching on moral issues or the downright unconcern of the church to look inward.

Since Christians are called to live differently than the world, what can and should be done to turn the boat around on hetero-immorality in the church? Are failed Christian marriages and immorality really giving the homosexual movement grounds to redefine marriage? And how can a Christian break free from enslavement to moral impurity?

As the "men of Sodom" tried to break down the door to Lot's home in order to have "relations" with his visitors (Genesis 19), so the homosexual agenda in America is just as determined and seeks nothing less than full acceptance and takeover of certain institutions like the educational system.

Case in point: The citizens of California just voted "yes" on Proposition 8, which would amend their state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. No matter the will of the people, homosexuals and their supporters have rejected the vote, filed lawsuits, and have taken to the streets vandalizing churches and even trampling on a cross carried by an older woman in favor of the amendment.

This weekend on The Christian Worldview, we'll look into the homosexual agenda, find out whether it's a "civil rights" issue like race and gender, and consider the Christian response.

What is race and what does the Bible say about it? How many different races are there in the world? How did race help or hurt Barack Obama's election to the presidency? What does it mean that America just elected the first "person of color" to the White House?

Race is an explosive topic. During the presidential campaign, some said that America would never elect a black president because of our nation's inherent racism. Obama himself spoke of a post-racial, undivided United States of America. Yet the big story immediately following Obama's big win was all about the "historic" nature of Obama's win and what it means to black people in America and people of color around the world.

With exit polls showing 98% of the black vote going for Obama in some states, it makes it hard to believe that America is anywhere near reaching colorblindness (Obama won 45% of the white vote.) In fact, the question can be asked: Is the world actually going the wrong direction on race?

You might recognize the topic of this week's show as a slight variation of our motto of The Christian Worldview: "Think Biblically, Live Accordingly."

But isn't that what the Christian life should be about -- understanding any given issue as Christ would and then acting in accordance with that truth?

The issue before Christians right now is the 2008 federal, state, and local elections that take place on Tuesday, November 4th. Never before have I seen our country at such a tipping point (as Daniel Denninger points out in this article).

Democrat Barack Obama has an unbiblical, humanistic worldview that would radically change tried-and-true American policies of strong national defense, free-market economics, and moral values of life and family.

A very disconcerting survey finds that born again Christians -- and especially younger ones -- are trending towards Obama.

This from OneNewsNow.com: According to Dave Kinnaman, president of The Barna Group, born-again Christians voting for Obama say they are backing the Illinois senator because they believe he will do a better job restoring America's reputation and handling the economy and agree with his stance on the Iraq War.

"People in their 20s or 30s who are born-again Christian are more likely to support Senator Obama than Senator McCain, compared to people who are older born-again Christians, who are more likely to support the Arizona senator," he explains.

Barack Obama has the most unbiblical views of any candidate in our nation's history and professing born-again Christians are going to vote for him? The delusion runs deep.
While we don't endorse candidates on The Christian Worldview or tell you for whom to vote, we do compare and contrast the candidates' worldviews to Scripture. For many months, I have warned and warned and warned about Obama's worldview on the radio program and have recently written extensively about it on TheChristianWorldview.com. I hope you will go there and read some of the posts before Election Day.

Yet Christians aren't exactly ecstatic about the other options: Republican John McCain is a political moderate, not conservative enough for some Christians, and 3rd Party candidates end up being nothing more than protest votes that only serve to help the candidate you really don't want to win (e.g. Ross Perot protest votes in 1992 led to Bill Clinton winning).

Helping us get some perspective on this most remarkable election season will be former US Congressman, JC Watts and current US Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

Finally, please be in prayer that God would move the hearts of our people to elect the more God-honoring candidates on November 4th.
