The Miracle Baby of Argentina

This little miracle shows just how wrong we are about abortion. From the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

Little Luz Milagros — whose name means “light miracle” was born almost three months early. The Argentine baby was pronounced stillborn by doctors after delivery, and was placed in the hospital’s morgue. But when the mom and her husband opened up the coffin to say their goodbyes, they were greeted by the cries of an infant. Little Luz was very much alive!

She’s had health struggles since, but doctors expect her to survive and return home. The case has raised uncomfortable questions for the staff at the Perrando hospital where Luz was born, and it should raise even more questions for us in the United States.

The Alabama Supreme Court recently challenged Roe v. Wade’s “viability standard,” which says that a fetus isn’t a person until it can survive outside the womb. But that standard keeps changing, and has changed by months. As this little Argentine miracle shows, our science isn’t all that certain and even babies we give up on possess life and deserve a chance. For The Point, I’m John Stonestreet.
