The Honeymoon is Over

The Honeymoon is Over

Because for some reason so many people care, we’ve all heard the news that Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kris Humphries is over, after only 72 days- an ironic ending to a marriage that began with the international television event “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding.”

This isn’t the shortest celebrity wedding to make the news. But there’s a cultural reality that makes this one different than the rest. Americans no longer take marriage seriously, as a recent Pew Study revealed. The majority find it “obsolete.” It’s one thing to laugh at a marriage; it’s a completely different thing to laugh at marriage per se.

Homosexual activist George Takei, of Star Trek fame, tweeted sarcastically that this was “another example of how same-sex marriage is destroying the sanctity of marriage.” His sarcasm points to a sad truth.

So, are we prepared to defend marriage?  Can you explain why marriage matters? If not, come to, and we’ll help. For The Point, I’m John Stonestreet.
