The Good News About Hypocrisy
I’m John Stonestreet, and this is The Point. You've probably heard that we live in a "Postmodern culture." But what does that even mean? Well, Postmodernism can be summed up this way: "no one really knows." For the Postmodernist, it's all perspective.Things like right, wrong and truth -- we can never be sure of these.
But if that's the case, then why is it so popular to accuse Christians of being hypocrites? If no one knows the truth, who's to say hypocrisy is even wrong? Not only that, but how would we know if we ever saw it?
You see, the answer is simple: we're not really Postmodern. We may claim to not believe in things like objective morality and truth, but our actions say otherwise. So the next time someone tells you that Christians are a bunch of hypocrites, ask them why they care. The moment they mention right and wrong -- well, they're back on God's turf. I'm John Stonestreet.
