Kirk Cameron and Tolerance
Uh oh… they’re being tolerant again. I’m John Stonestreet, and this is The Point.
Kirk Cameron was once the most lovable kid in America, the teen heartthrob on the sitcom Growing Pains. Now, he’s has been called an “accomplice to murder” by Rosie O’Donnell. What did he do? He stated his convictions about homosexual behavior and same-sex marriage in an interview with Pierce Morgan on CNN a few days ago.
He didn’t do it angrily or hatefully. Nor was he all that articulate. But, just like Carrie Prejean was cussed out by Perez Hilton for giving her jumbled, hard to follow opinion when asked for it, Cameron was also asked for his opinion. And though it was clearly more coherent than Prejean’s, it was not tolerable to those preaching tolerance the most loudly.
But the real victims of this intolerance are those who struggle with same sex attraction. They only hear that their identity is determined by their sexual behavior, and that they are trapped in a lifestyle many want to escape. They need to know that there is hope for finding true identity in Jesus Christ. For thePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
