He’s the King
It’s really about the subject of redemption, not the object. For the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet.
Jesus died and rose again for me. Of that I have no doubt. And because of that I receive forgiveness of sin, the gift of the Holy Spirit, adoption into His family, and eternal life. It's incredible; but we mustn’t stop there.
For the Gospel writers, it’s not so much that He died and rose for me as it is He died and rose, period. And that He lived, and obeyed, and appeared after He rose, and ascended, and that He now rules. As the title of Tim Keller’s newly released book says, Understanding the Life and Death of the Son of God is understanding that Jesus is the King. The king of everything.
While we receive the benefits, the focus of the Scripture is – as one reviewer put it – on the subject of redemption, not the object. I interviewed Tim Keller about this for BreakPoint this Week. Listen at breakpoint.org. And we’ve got a special package offer for Keller’s book and our new He Has Risen study series at the bookstore. That’s breakpoint.org. I’m John Stonestreet.
