After We Eat Chicken, Then What?

After We Eat Chicken, Then What?

We ate a lot of chicken, so what now? For the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

Perhaps you joined the huge throngs lined up outside of Chick-fil-A’s last week as if it were an American Idol audition. Perhaps you posted about your visit on FaceBook and even talked about it with church friends. But we must realize, this is not a substitute for building up marriage, nor is it a justification for uncharitable behavior.

Some rightly wondered whether the Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day would just give some the idea that “shoving it in their face” was better than “turning the other cheek.” On the other hand, it was ridiculous to suggest as some did that it is somehow un-Christian to support a business being unfairly attacked and slandered despite its long-standing reputation as an excellent company that cares for people.

If we were unkind or hateful while eating our chicken, we were wrong. And if we think eating chicken replaces our responsibility to thoughtfully and winsomely defend marriage while consistently fighting for our own, we are wrong too. For thePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
