The Wexner Center

The Wexner Center at Ohio State is “a building waiting to be a building.? Outside there’s incomplete towers, half-formed arches, mounds of broken glass and what appears to be permanent scaffolding as if the building — that’s been open for years — is still under construction. Inside gets stranger. Uneven flooring, crossbeams that don’t reach the wall, and pillars that either don’t each the floor or the ceiling. There’s even a staircase that runs into a brick wall.

Indigestion?

The American Atheists have filed a lawsuit asking that two beams resembling a cross found in the rubble of Ground Zero should be taken out of a tax-payer funded museum, even though they became a meaningful symbol of hope for many after 9-11. Precedent from past cases requires that plaintiffs show injury beyond merely being offended. The injuries claimed by the American Atheist include “dyspepsia, symptoms of depression, anxiety, and mental pain and anguish.? In case you didn’t know dyspepsia is indigestion. Really? One Way or Many Ways?

One Way or Many Ways?

Hard questions are often best answered with other questions. If you’ve been asked this question like I have, here’s two questions to respond with. First, if there are many ways to God, do you think each way is a good way? Specifically, is Christianity a good way to reach God?

John Stott

John Stott

In one of the great lines about God and man, St. Augustine observed, “You have formed us for yourself, O God. And our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.? Yesterday we reflected on Amy Winehouse whose chaotic life and untimely death was mourned last week. Also passing last week was a much less familiar person, British pastor and theologian John Stott.
