Session 8 | Day 8a

Session 8 | Day 8a

One week down here at Summit and WOW! Where to start? This past week has been better than I could have ever imagined. Every day is completely different, and I have learned so much. As excited as I had been to come to here, I could not have hoped that this week would have been so great.

One week ago, during the orientation, I was told how the first two days of camp would go by really slow and then the rest of the conference would fly by. How true that has been! Every lecture goes by so quickly, and I could just stay and listen for hours. The amazing thing is, had you told me that I would spend over five hours a day listening to lectures, I would have been very cautious about coming. But that’s exactly what it's been, and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve learned more than I ever believed I would. Every speaker here has been amazing, my small group is fantastic, the food is excellent, Colorado is beautiful, and God is great.

This experience has been absolutely incredible. Two minutes into the first lecture I realized how much I had to learn. It amazed me how much knowledge and insight each of the speakers had, and I’m so blessed to have this opportunity to learn from them. Every time I sit down at my desk, I know that God is about to show me something great. As much as it pains me to say it, as a homeschooler, I feel like I’ve learned so much more in such a short time than I had during high school...sorry mom. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. I love how each speaker can relate to us teens—or should I say young adults—while at the same time challenge us to really dig deep intellectually and spiritually.

One of my favorite parts about Summit has been the Open Forums. Each night, one of the speakers from the day has a Q&A session with us students on the front porch. It really gives us a chance to have a more personal talk with each speaker. There is so much going on in our culture today and to just sit back, relax, and listen during these beautiful Colorado evenings is something I’ll never forget. It means a lot to me that they are all willing to take the time to talk with us and really delve into those topics that are being discussed during the day. I feel like I’m repeating myself, but it’s been so great to just sit back and soak it all in.

Summit has definitely been one of the best experiences of my life. Only one week in, and I’ve already learned so much, made some great friends and grown that much closer to God. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity, and I can’t wait to see what the next week brings!
