Session 6 | Day 2
Session Six is finally underway! All 189 students have arrived, and it's so awesome to watch how quickly they make new friends! One of my favorite parts of Summit is that, once they walk in the doors of the hotel, they are surrounded by so many others with whom they immediately share common ground: a love for Jesus Christ and a desire to learn more about Him! I pray that as they embark on these next two weeks, they will create friendships that will last long after they hop back on the buses and head home.
Today the students were introduced to their first day of class by Chuck Edwards, Dean of Students here at Summit. He gave a broad overview of "Why We are Here", then dove into "Worldview Thinking." Dr. Bob Linden followed this with two sessions on "Leadership," a big focus here at Summit. Our desire is that our students learn to share and defend their faith, and that in doing so, they would become servant leaders after the model of our Lord Jesus Christ.
After lunch, Darrell Furgason gave the first of his sessions on Islam. From there the students got some much deserved free time then were treated to a trip to the Garden of the Gods! This beautiful area of God's creation is full of red rock formations, great and small, just a short drive from the hotel.
Doc Noebel finished off the night with "Worldviews in Collision." His energetic manner, which has engaged Summit students for 47 years, once again drew in every student in the classroom. We are so blessed to have him, to be participating in the vision God placed on his heart nearly 50 years ago.
