Session 5 | Day 7
It's crazy how all these years I have lived my life inside this bubble. What is the bubble you may ask? It had been my ignorance of all the evil that is going on in this world that we live in. Oh, don't get me wrong, I knew there was evil in this world. What I wasn't aware of was how much it was affecting our youth, our families, and our nation. Even worse, I had no clue how to respond to those who are seeking to dethrone God and put something else in His place.
I can honestly say that I have learned more about worldviews (including my own), in one week than I have in the eighteen years I have been living.
I came here because I was seeking how to respond to atheism, Marxism, ect biblically and logically. After all 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to always be prepared to give an answer to explain the hope that we have.
The speaker on this issue was Mike Haley from Focus on the Family, who taught us about homosexuality. I was particularly looking forward to this lecture because this is one of the most controversial topics known to America today.
Brother Haley had warned us beforehand that some of the things he was going to tell us and show us would make us angry.
And it did make me angry.
No, not angry at the homosexuals. After all, God loves them just like He does us, and He is no respector of persons (Acts 10:34). He will welcome them with open arms if they seek Him just like He will do with us.
We as Christians however, need to be aware that the gay agenda is out there. The activists are out to make us look like victimizers who are robbing the poor innocent victims of their "rights," and they seek nothing more than to have us think that their lifestyle is "normal." Even worse, they are trying to teach this to our 1st-5th graders.
Anyway, one of the things Brother Haley showed us was a video of a gay man teaching elementary age kids about the homosexual lifestyle, and promoting it in ways that made it look good and appealing to the seven year olds. I've gotta hand it to this guy. He was very persuasive, and obviously had experience dealing with (take note) ELEMENTARY age children. Children at this age (since they have no clue about sexuality whatsoever) are innocent, and if something is presented in a way that appeals to them, then they'll listen and leave thinking that it is normal.
Obviously, this guy knew that, and used it to his advantage in order to (as Brother Haley put it) desensitize the children to the idea of homosexual rights, and in a few short words, told them that the reason he was a better teacher and a better friend to them was because of his openness about his lifestyle as a gay.
This is the problem: For about five decades, the devil has been lying to people, telling them that their lifestyle of homosexuality is okay, normal, and worse, they were BORN that way! I mean c'mon, really?
Look through every single study that has been performed in the search for "gay genetics" in the human body. It just so happens that there is a reason that those people haven't found that "gay gene!" Of course you're not going to hear this information watching the news :/.
For too long, we have let this go on without saying a word, and those who HAVE said a word, have not spoken the truth in love, but in hate. For example, at the Gay and Lesbian parade every year there were Christians holding up signs saying things like "God hates fags." Now, I don't know about you, but something is telling me that this does not appeal to them at all.
God's GOODNESS is what leads men to repentance. (Romans 2:4). So what we need to do is get off our rear ends and be good examples in how we live in our marriages, families, and churches. It's time we stopped giving them the impression that we hate them, and start showing love to them and in doing so lead them to God.
