Session 3 | Day 9
Summit is pretty much the highlight of my year thus far. All of the extremely intellectual speakers have blown my mind with the amount of information they present to us students. And although the sessions have been incredible, the best part of Summit for me has been the hike to Pike’s Peak. I’ve been on many hikes and expeditions, but never have I ever been so physically and mentally challenged in my life! I started the hike at the front of the group, but I soon fell back to a slower pace and made my way to the back of the line. The higher we went the louder my body screamed for me to turn back and give up.
About a quarter of our way up, someone compared our brutal trek to our walk with Christ. So many times in our lives we go through hard times, and in those times it is so crucial to keep our eyes fixed on Christ. Otherwise, it would be so easy to give up and turn back to our old ways, just as it would’ve been easy to give up the hike if I would have lost sight of the final destination: a gorgeous view on top of Pike’s Peak (and not to mention bragging rights). I am so pumped for another exciting week, and I can’t wait to tell all my friends about everything I’ve learned. I will definitely be coming back as a student and, God willing, as a staff member! Good job Summit!!
