Saturday, May 21 (Session 1, Day 6)
Summit is such a great place to be. Just the fact that 156 people are all here for the same reason: to be educated about our culture and about how we are so misled by everyday things like movies and music. Sitting around listening and singing to someone playing the guitar is just a beautiful thing. The whole fact that you know you won’t be judged for being a Christian or listening to worship music is so encouraging. I am so glad I have to opportunity to have this life-changing experience.
Today has been pretty amazing, from Eric Smith talking about why we should be educated in the Bible to Chuck Edwards discussing movies to sports time this afternoon to Mike Haley talking about his experience with homosexuality. I think the best part of the day was Mike Haley. He is a former homosexual man, and testified to the mercy and redemption made possible by God.
We spent most of the afternoon at the park for sports time and this evening we had a cookout. It was just nice to hang out with the people I’ve met and discuss the different lectures and things we liked or disliked. It was just a good time to recollect the week’s events.
Basically this week has been a time of meeting new people, learning more about my faith, and learning some things that I didn’t realize were going on in this country. Some of the things that we have learned about, like the communism that is slowly and subtly taking over out country, have really opened my eyes and shown me some things I can do about it. This has been one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had.
