Friday, August 31 (Session 7, Day 12)

I don’t think I’ll ever forget my roommates, Dan, Eric, and Daniel. We did our best to clean our room every morning for the daily room inspection, and actually did a pretty good job. Every morning, Daniel left a note for the room inspector. Some of these notes could probably have been interpreted as love letters, but honestly, they weren’t…

Thursday, August 30 (Session 7, Day 12)

Thursday, August 30 (Session 7, Day 12)

“WAKE UP SUMMIT!" The boisterous call from who-knows-where arouses the sleepy students out of their bunk beds each day. But today was different. Why did I not hear the cry that makes me both groan and giggle at the same time? Today was the day of separation between the guys and the girls to do what each does best –…

Wednesday, August 29 (Session 7, Day 11)

Wednesday, August 29 (Session 7, Day 11)

Imagine a place where people your age come together for a purpose; the purpose to find truth, faith, strength, and wisdom in God. A room where any question you have about Christianity can be answered. Well you don’t have to imagine a place like this, because it already exists. Summit Ministries is this and so much more. I honestly would…

Tuesday, August 28 (Session 7, Day 10)

Tuesday, August 28 (Session 7, Day 10)

Since arriving at summit we have heard from many wise men that ideas have consequences. In the eight days that have now passed, we have been informed and equipped to defend Christianity against the many other ideas affecting our culture. A couple ideas which have infiltrated themselves into the many facets of our society are the worldviews of scientific naturalism…

Monday, August 27 (Session 7, Day 9

I’m a person who loves challenges and will sometimes push herself too hard in order to accomplish those challenges. In coming to Summit, I expected to be challenged intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. And oh, have I been challenged! Today at Summit, we hiked The Incline. The Incline consists of a mile-long hike up over 2,700 stairs. It was an…

Sunday, August 26 (Session 7, Day 8)

Sunday, August 26 (Session 7, Day 8)

This is my second time coming to The Summit; and as always, it is a great blessing to be here. Since attending last year, the LORD has continued His work in my life. I have learned so much, and have been able to share much of that knowledge with others. “So what is different this time around?" you may ask.

Saturday, August 25 (Session 7, Day 7)

Saturday, August 25 (Session 7, Day 7)

In coming to Summit, I expected to be challenged mentally and spiritually. My sole intention was to prepare my mind and heart for intelligently witnessing in a world and educational atmosphere that rejects the Gospel of Christ.

Friday, August 24 (Session 7, Day 6)

I’ve heard it said that it is better to have an abundance of questions than an abundance of answers. If that is the case, then The Summit is definitely a great place to be. Between the speakers, staff, and students, you never have to wait too long for someone to ask something (even if it is just “When’s lunch??).

Thursday, August 23 (Session 7, Day 5)

It's day four of Summit and its been a wild ride. Whether meeting new people, singing Call Me Maybe in the showers at the top of my lungs, Wolfpacking it up, or freestyle rapping for a group of peers and staff, my experience has been beyond amazing. Our group of 70 students has become a family as we've grown together…

Wednesday, August 22 (Session 7, Day 4)

Wednesday, August 22 (Session 7, Day 4)

My third day at Summit - and so far all I can say is intense. (Incredible, too, but intense definitely comes first!) So far I have sat through ten sessions of lectures - the topics have varied from abortion, to apologetics, to competing worldviews (and, which worldview is actually true.) Think information overload - but in a really good way.

Friday, August 17 (Session 6, Day 13)

Friday, August 17 (Session 6, Day 13)

The ceiling of our abode, brought forth by the Creator this day, silently shouted in nooks, crannies, and halls whom sent out by His grace “culture changers? being ambassadors of the kingdom, declaring His own magnificence to subjects of life whom partake of Lady Wisdom’s feast, and equally to those who avert their gaze from the pronounced truth. Truth scribed on the minute tablet of His finer details which distribute gifts and uniqueness to those of dominion, and painted on the canvas of Creation a work to exceed the passion of Rembrandt’s The Prodigal Son and the inordinate allure of Michelangelo’s decoration on the ceiling of Rome’s Sistine Chapel. This Creator, which the majority of His subjects once knew in a half remembered dream as the “One who ascribes definite definition and value? (Genesis 1), thence released the climax of the story scripted with poetic mastery, as the One who had inspired David, portrayed in the sky. Rain then fell in undulating waves from the heavens as light, permeating the majestic yet hindering clouds, creating palatial light of adornment giving way to the archaic art of ponderation, and in turn dusting reality’s shrouded pages. As the lost seek true north, utilizing a spinning compass and tainted lens of which to view the map, where rests then road of truth?

Thursday, August 16 (Session 6, Day 12)

Thursday, August 16 (Session 6, Day 12)

I had not even taken a bite of my breakfast when my thoughts were channeled for the day. Instead of the usual meal in the dining hall, the girls were invited to eat by the pool as a panel of ladies staff answered questions we had about femininity. The questions were typical, the answers a bit more creative, but I…

Wednesday, August 15 (Session 6, Day 11)

Wednesday, August 15 (Session 6, Day 11)

It is night now. The Summit household is quiet and peaceful as I reflect over the events that took place just earlier today. Waking up was less brutal than usual, since I allowed myself to sleep in just a tad this morning. The aches and bruises I had from playing paintball were evident as I began to move but it brought a smile to my face. Summit puts a new meaning to the phrase “work hard, play hard.?

Tuesday, August 14 (Session 6, Day 10)

The sun rose this morning on this quiet, historic hotel in Manitou Springs, CO. You would assume due to a more relaxed weekend of fun and adventure we would feel well rested and engaged. The opposite seems to have occurred.

Monday, August 13 (Session 6, Day 9)

Monday, August 13 (Session 6, Day 9)

I can hardly believe this is already the end of the first week of Summit! This week has been filled with many stimulating ideas. Today was mostly a free day, with one session in the evening taught by Dr. Myers. The topic was on the purpose and place of the church and we explored several metaphors for the church used in scripture. These included “the body? (1 Corinthians 12:12-31), “a family? (Hebrews 2:10-18), “a team? (Hebrews 12:1-11), and “an army? (Ephesians 6:10-20).
