Wednesday, August 10 (Session 6, Day 10)

Wednesday, August 10 (Session 6, Day 10)

For me today was nothing short of amazing. The speakers were fantastic, and paintballing with my friends was an exciting experience. Today, we started our morning off with Eric Smith. He lectured on the history of the Bible. But a something really stuck out to me: he asked us to summarize the Bible in one sentence. This was a very…

Tuesday, August 9 (Session 6, Day 9)

This morning, we woke to the song “Ring of Fire? by the always-soothing Johnny Cash. Eric Smith started the day for us with the daily Bible hour followed by a triple-header of wisdom from Jeff Myers. First, he shared the art of seeking counselors who can share their wisdom from “evaluated experience.? He mentioned “likeability? which is “the art of relationships.?

Monday, August 8 (Session 6, Day 8)

Monday, August 8 (Session 6, Day 8)

This evening, Jeff Myers spoke on our life purposes. He suggested that we write a list of the things for which we are grateful, in order to facilitate our appreciation for the providence of God. So, accordingly, I propose to describe the things for which I am thankful today.

Sunday, August 7 (Session 6, Day 7)

Sunday, August 7 (Session 6, Day 7)

All summer I have been looking forward to attending Summit. Summit ministry has positively impacted me in my Biblical worldview by confronting the real issues of today that most people would rather ignore. While being a Summit student, I have met so many amazing new friends who share the same goal as I do: impacting the world for Jesus Christ.…

Saturday, August 6 (Session 6, Day 6)

Saturday, August 6 (Session 6, Day 6)

As a student at Summit for the second time, I returned with many unconscious expectations (“unconscious? because I was very nobly attempting to not have any expectations). The past week started out a little roughly with an unfortunate plane ride, lingering motion sickness, and inconveniently contracting a cold. Of course it’s been lovely seeing a few of my friends from last year, whom I have grown to love dearly, but we’re all doing our best to make the most of the time here, as this is such an amazing ministry

Thursday, August 4 (Session 5, Day 4)

Thursday, August 4 (Session 5, Day 4)

Someone told us today that our session is basically half over, but for most of us it feels like we’re just beginning to comprehend the biggest ideas we’ve heard in a long time; we’re on the verge of some of our most important understandings. When your brain is working as tirelessly as ours have been, along with little sleep and…

Wednesday, August 3 (Session 6, Day 3)

Wednesday, August 3 (Session 6, Day 3)

This morning I woke up… I think. I skipped breakfast to do devotions, as full as the days are here, that’s what happens. I found myself in Isaiah 54. In verses seven through eight it says, “For a brief moment I have deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you says the Lord your redeemer.? It was really something to start my day with that. With all the worldviews we’re learning about, it’s not hard to see why God turns His face, but incredibly hard to see why He pours out His love.

Tuesday, August 2 (Session 5, Day 2)

Hello to all you Summit readers! I must say, as a first-time Summit student, it’s been quite a ride and I’ve only been here two and a half days so far! This whole experience is unreal, amazing, epic. And it’s my job to describe it to you, hooray!

Monday, August 1 (Session 6, Day 1)

Monday, August 1 (Session 6, Day 1)

Things were so awesome today here in this old hotel. People were asleep by 5:30 and some slept in until the morning yell of Eric (a.k.a. Thor, one of the coolest night watchmen there is). This dude is absolutely crazy. This morning, I saw him running up and down the hall with a speaker and a mic yelling and playing…
