Session 4 | Day 3b

Session 4 | Day 3b

It’s 10:30 at night right now, and there are so many people fellowshipping in the lobby that I am having a hard time getting my thoughts together. The energy is this place is so amazing. Everyone is so friendly! Before I got here, I thought that I was not going to enjoy this experience, but it’s the third official day, and I’m having so much fun. I made the mistake of wearing short shorts on Tuesday, and I now have the nickname “S.S. Short Shorts.? It’s not a bad nickname (I actually like it a lot), but it’s kind of weird to hear people who I’ve never met calling me by a nickname.

Session 4 | Day 3a

Hey ya’ll! Surrounded by Mid-Westerners and Southerners, I have begun to adopt a slight twang. It’s a shame I cannot convey an accent here through the computer! However, I hope I can give you a little insight into what made Summit awesome today (for me). Our second speaker to was Dr. Jeff Myers, who spoke on “The Whole Truth about Love, Sex, Marriage (and Kids).? He began with the creation story, shining a new light on the well-known passage (Gen 2:15-25). Dr. Myers highlighted how God designed

Session 4 | Day 2b

Bam! I wake up to my phone’s alarm and bust my forehead on the bottom of the top bunk. Oh well, right? Should’ve taken top bunk. What a way to start my morning =] Anyways, after taking a shower and making sure my room was clean for room-checks, me and my bunkmates headed up to breakfast. Chocolate-chip pancakes. YUM.

Session 4 | Day 2a

Today was the typical day at Summit. As usual, Dr. Noebel began with a series of his jokes and teaching all strung into a complex lesson of Biblical philosophy. Next came John Stonestreet, who caught our attention with his jokes, slides, and movie clips. He showed us many videos demonstrating how different worldviews think of themselves. Then came Ryan Dobson,…

Session 3 | Day 11

Summit Ministries at Colorado Springs has been one of the most life-changing experiences in my life. During my time at Summit, I have realized valuable knowledge regarding my beliefs in Christianity. The leaders, speakers, and staff members make the environment feel like home. They also made me think deeply about what I believe in and why I believe it. For future Summit students who are coming or may come in the future, don’t waste this opportunity because it will make a difference. Like Dr. Noebel always says to cars driving by during class: “Peace to you.?

Red Mountain

Session 3 | Day 10b

Wow. It’s hard to believe how fast my time here at Summit has gone! God is doing so many cool things here: friendships are being built, lives are being challenged, and everyone is being encouraged. This morning, 8 of us got up at 6:00 AM and hiked up Red Mountain, which is located right behind the Summit hotel. Once we…

Session 3 | Day 10a
Manference and Mancakes

Manference—(n.) when a group of guys hold a conference for the purpose of helping and encouraging each other, addressing personal issues, and setting life goals. As a second-year Summit student, this was, once again, one of the most life-impacting events of the entire two weeks. It is a time when we, as guys, can be honest about our personal struggles,…

Session 3 | Day 9

Session 3 | Day 9

Summit is pretty much the highlight of my year thus far. All of the extremely intellectual speakers have blown my mind with the amount of information they present to us students. And although the sessions have been incredible, the best part of Summit for me has been the hike to Pike’s Peak. I’ve been on many hikes and expeditions, but…

Session 3 | Day 7

Session 3 | Day 7

As with most mornings here at Summit, this morning started out way too early. Getting up at 6:00AM every day really gets to you after a while, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Summit has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I can say from experience that it’s just as great as a second year student…

Session 3 | Day 6b

Session 3 | Day 6b

So it’s Friday at Summit…. Let me explain: worldviews, hippies, Jesus, hippies, maté, hippies drinking maté. Everyday we learn something that we have never learned before, usually because the only people interested in telling us these things are our good friends at Summit. Classes are sometimes intense but never boring. By the way, “If you don’t read the King James Version of the Bible, you are in some small way, a barbarian.? —Richard Dawkins.

Session 3 | Day 6a

Session 3 | Day 6a

Ever since my senior English teacher told me about Summit Ministries, I knew that it would be a vital experience to prepare me spiritually and mentally for college. Summit is completely different than any “summer camp" I have ever been to. On the first day, they reminded us multiple times that this is an academic camp and not a sports…

Session 3 | Day 5b

Summit is very busy. In the last four days, I’ve listened to 26 lectures! I feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. I have listened to so much information already, and I’m almost always busy doing something, so the information keeps piling up. As an example of how busy I am, take today:

Session 3 | Day 5a

My experience at the Summit thus far has been very beneficial and extremely rewarding. This place is bursting with great things—great speakers, great friends, and great sports. There are Bible teachers from across the country, and while I have not agreed 100% with all that they have said, they have challenged me and many of my friends to re-evaluate just…

Session 3 | Day 4

As I left for Summit three days ago, I was in a very unproductive mood. But on the way here, I began thinking about how I viewed fellow Christians and how I viewed myself, concluding with disappointment, even hatred, toward myself for being so unequipped for college.

Session 3 | Day 3b

This camp has been so fun! I have learned so much in so little time that it is hard to know where to begin! Today we heard from Dr. Gish on Creation/ Evolution and from Ryan Dobson about apologetics and following God. It has been such an inspiring two days so far hearing the stories and information from so many…
