Session 1 | Day 5

When I was given the opportunity to attend Summit I became very excited. I could not wait! Upon arriving, Summit has fulfilled every expectation and beyond. This morning session was given by Dr. Thompson. He continued from his earlier teachings this week to challenge everyone to not only read "fragments" of Scripture, but read it in its entirety. He explained that if we do not read before and after the studied verse we risk interpreting the Scripture in the wrong context. I was challenged to broaden my reading of Scripture. I realized how many times I revisit the same books of the Bible and rarely venture into others.

During the next sessions I was able to hear from Dr. Beckwith about Relativism. He thoroughly explained Relativism and the arguments that refute the concept. His explanations were understandable and intriguing. Each session was very thought provoking. I especially found the arguments against Relativism interesting. I hadn't heard any of these arguments explained so clearly before.

Throughout my short time here I have been challenged to increase my knowledge of Scripture, of the world around me, and the views of different worldviews. I have been learning and growing. I was already familiar with many worldviews and ideas, but Summit is teaching me about these ideas in much more depth. I can not wait to hear the upcoming sessions.

In addition to the sessions, we have been able to have time to play games and engage in discussion. I have been filling my time in discussion with other students about the session topics, different issues, and life in general. Speaking with the students has been an encouragement to me, to find other students so interested and concerned about defending the Biblical worldview and not settling for ordinary. This has not only been a time to learn, grow, and discuss, but to make new friends from around to country. My time, even though it is only Thursday, has been an amazing experience. I see the next week and a half to be full of new excitement and opportunities to grow.
