Session 1 | Day 1
Today is the first day of the Summit OH session! This morning I slept in until 7:15 and then rode to the local coffee shop, Beans and Cream, for our final staff meeting prior to the student's arrival. After ingesting "The Fix" (espresso and ice cream) for breakfast, I was ready to go for the day.
Noon came, and with it the students (much to my delight)! They settled in to their dorm rooms, played games, met roommates, and oriented themselves with the lovely Cedarville campus.
After dinner and the opening session, I took my small group (Jessica, Tricia, and Rebekah — Sarah was in transit from the airport) to sit near the statue by the lake. We discussed it for a moment — a man with a large hole in his chest, lying facedown next to two apples. The title of the sculpture is, "And then their eyes were opened." Although we didn't discuss the vast implications of creation, the fall, and redemption, I know that those topics will be discussed during the next two weeks. Perhaps our eyes will be opened to the grander scheme, how our lives are part of the great story started by the Creator when He laid the foundations of the earth.
Well, it's time for milk and cookies before lights out Check back tomorrow to hear about the first day of classes!!
