Session 6 | Day 2
By Zeb Evridge
After an extremely turbulent fifteen minute flight from Denver, I landed in Colorado Springs, which is very close to, though not quite home of, Summit Ministries, which is located in Manitou Springs. After hanging out and getting to know the other students, our group went to our first classroom session, which consisted of orientation and the rules of Summit. Then, after breaking into small groups, we went to sleep. That concluded day one of our Summit experience.
Day two, which is the day we are currently on, consisted of waking up, eating breakfast, sitting through two classroom sessions, lunch, one more classroom session, and then some free time. In the evening we headed off to the Flying W Ranch, a crazy old school chuckwagon dinner and Western music show. We enjoyed authentic "ranch" cuisine such as beef, chicken, their "famous" baked beans, potatos, and a few other staples of a rancher's supper. The western band was legit. We sang our way back to the hotel on bus three (AKA: The Party Bus!) and went to bed...except for me because I stayed up to write the blog after lights out.
Summit is here to provide kids with the environment to defend their faith and give them a wide array of tools to use to defend their beliefs on subjects like politics, abortion, homosexuality and much more. I hope to learn how to defend myself against anything the world throws at me. I am truly lucky to be here.
