Session 5 | Day 7
By Jacob Jolibois
The morning of the 26th of July began quietly in the small town of Manitou Springs...that is until five alarm clocks simultaneously went off, signaling everyone in Room #203 to roll out of bed. Another day of Summit had begun. Our day began with a lecture from the man himself, "Doc" Noebel. The worldview analysis had begun! Following Doc was our good friend Kevin Bywater, and following him was John Stonestreet. Their commanding voices, thought provoking arguments and humorous jokes woke everyone up from their delirious state of confusion...at least...almost everyone.
To celebrate surviving the first half of Summit, we headed off to the park for a day of sports, visiting, and Bar-B-Q. I rode in the "Chuckwagon!" (Faculty member Chuck Edwards drives bus #1). The park day consisted of ultimate frisbee, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and whatever other sport people could make up. Immediately following the sports was a glorious buffet of hot dogs and hamburgers. Once we had gorged ourselves with the best camp food in the world we all headed back to the Summit hotel for a hot shower and a little rest.
The day was topped off day with speaker Mike Haley from Focus on the Family, who addressed the hotly debated topic of homosexuality. The day, of course, ended with our dismissal to bed. I returned to my room and roommates to be greeted by Zac's random songs, Gavin's Cheese-Its, Nathan's clothes, Connor's strange accent, Landon's philosophy, Garret's situation, and Jesse's amazing fauxhawk. Though it's already past lights out (the blogger of the day gets to stay up a few minutes past lights out to finish writing), I'm sure my room mates are lying in wait to pounce on me as I walk through the door, asking "Am I in your blog?" And this is a day in the life of the average teenage Summit student. "Bon Voyage! auf Weidersein! Remember the Alamo!"
