Session 1 | Day 4

Chuck Edwards was one of the main speakers today, and he took us through the issue of worldviews in entertainment. Movies, we discovered, are much more than entertainment but are purposed to teach the worldview of those making them. Screen writers have openly discussed their objectives in writing a film--they recognize themselves as being the culture's teachers. Scary thought! It's especially dangerous in movies because people tend to turn their brains off, thinking that they are simply being entertained, when in actuality (in the case of a bad movie) their worldview is under attack. We learned the importance of evaluating the message behind the movies we see and the music we listen to, because if we don't, we allow the subtle ideas to remain, and subconsciously, we can eventually buy into a lie that, if openly seen, we would have never accepted.

Later in the day, John Stonestreet spoke to us about marriage and its importance in our culture. He presented many statistics on the benefits of marriage between one man and one woman. In cultures where this definition is accepted, they are prosperous and productive. You can probably guess what the cultures without this ethic were like: the opposite! Another interesting thing noted was that cultures that gave up their previous marriage ethics inevitably suffered decline. The examples he gave were Rome and Babylon. God help our nation! The funny thing about this whole thing is that those who don't have traditional marriages don't usually want kids and so within a few generations, they'll all be gone! And homeschoolers will rule the world! Ha ha!

Well, I am absolutely having a blast here! There is WAY too much stuff to take in though! I'll definitely have to come back again. Well, I don't know if you can tell by the way I'm writing, but I'm exhausted so I think I should end this post before I say something stupid. Probably too late! Goodbye! Love you Mom, Dad, Toria and Lauren!
