Session 7 | Day 6
It's day six here at Summit. I've already made a lot of new friends and I feel like I know the schedules, but it still surprises me to think that almost a week has already gone by. For some reason I can't help but think it's still day two and we have the entire session left here. But I guess when you're having a great time the days pass by a lot quicker without much notice.
It was harder for the first few days (particularly since I was feeling slightly sick at first) but the routine is starting to feel a little less hectic and I can almost jump out of bed at 7:00 am without having to fall back in for a 10 minute power-nap. I've gotten better in keeping the room clean for room-checks (today we got a perfect score of 30 for keeping our room clean!). And I'm learning goods ways to use the short, sweet, free time that we have.
Today in class we had a lot of interesting subjects we were learning about. Things like: abortion, history of Jesus and the gospels, a short survey of Islam, studying people who have effected the world by their beliefs and different worldviews, etc. Just because there's so much new information being said so quickly, things can sometime get confusing- which is where the huge notebooks come in as a lifesaver!
The meals today, as usual, were wonderful. I've gotten the reputation of a picky eater, but I like trying new things here. At lunch, the people at my table and I were trying to decide whether we should categorize our food as soup, stew, or chili... I don't think we ever decided for sure, but every one of us loved it! You can tell that the staff always puts a lot of work into preparing the best meals for us.
Since being here a lot of things have been really challenging for me, but I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity of coming to Summit and I'm looking forward to everything else I still have yet to learn from being here.
