Session 7 | Day 4
I was awakened this morning from my sweet slumber at 7:00 am by our wonderful night watch-woman, and just like every other day at the Summit Hotel, you have no choice but to hit the ground running. We are served every morning, noon and night a wonderful meal made by a staff that really, honestly seems to like making food for us. Like Emerson said yesterday, this food here is NOT your typical campy food. For one thing the food does what is should. It doesn't bounce, jiggle, change colors or glow ultra-violet. It tastes fantastic and is just the thing to get us through our grueling sessions. Thank you Summit Staff for keeping us alive. *thumbs up* Moving on........
When we finished eating we all shuffled over to our class. When devos concluded, we had Dr. Noebel teaching us Bible Hour. In his usual, and unarguably unique way, he keeps us on our toes while teaching us the "12 reasons You Should Share The Bible". He only got to three, so there is more to come on Friday! We were then honored with the presence of Kevin Bywater and his lecture on "New Age" and "Pseudo Christian Cults". Yes, he was daring enough to fit 1 1/2 lectures in to the time usually alloted for one. *gasp* Don't grieve for us though, he executed it beautifully and even succeeded in giving us enough room in our brains so they wouldn't explode. I would advise caution for those wanting to experience this. After Kevin Bywater we were all herded outside to perform a ritual Summit likes to call, " The Class Photo". This I am convinced is a code name for "stand in front of the hotel with the sun BEATING down on you and in your eyes while smiling and looking 'smart' while Dr. Noebel is asking us," But hey, you only live once right? When we had all been herded back into our classroom we were challenged by Mark Cahill. One thing that he stated will probably stick with me for years after Summit, I quote, "Sharing your faith isn't a presentation, it's a conversation." He made witnessing look like something anyone could (and should) do. And don't you think that's the way witnessing should be? Something everyone should do? I was truly challenged.
Once we had lunch, we had another talk from Kevin Bywater. This time about Islam. One thing that I have found in my three days of vast experience in Summit lectures is that they are all amazing. No doubt. I am starting to see a pattern of excellence that I am sure will continue throughout my stay here at the Summit Hotel.
Today was the day that the returning students dreaded and new students were just to inexperienced and innocent to dread. Today was the day of the "Bible Exam" *Duh DAAAAAA* Many went away from it happier people knowing they probably passed this intense test of Bible knowledge. Alas, many were not as fortunate as those elite students and will have to yet again endure this test of endurance and knowledge. Hopefully wiser and more learned in God's life manual for us we call the Bible, we will see what develops for those in need of studying.
To defog our brains we were given a free time. See, we do have free time here. They (meaning anyone associated with Summit Hotel) may be seemingly hard on us but they aren't inhuman. Many activities were participated in. I will not list them in risk of you being bored out of your skull, just know fun was to be had.
7:30 pm is when we are again back to hit the books. But not before some great worship. I wish you all could hear us, we sound great. Dr. Noebel is our professor for our last class of the day. What will come out of his mouth next none of us can ever predict. Be it warning us of the hippies down town, randomly breaking in his lecture to say "peace" to a passing car, or poking fun at the extensive Canadian Air Force, it proves to always be a fun and extremely educational time.
I hope you have enjoyed your " A day in thee life of a Summit Student. I wish I could truly share with you what it is like to daily be handed knowledge to grow in our faith, to be surrounded by amazing staff, professors and fellow students who share your love for God, and your thirst to learn more and drink deeper into Christ, but you would honestly have to experience it, because I don't think I can do it justice with words alone.
