Session 6 | Day 8
Day 8 at Summit was somewhat less academic than the other days have been - today the group split up to either hike Pike's Peak, go white-water rafting, or simply relax at the hotel. I chose the hike, and immensely enjoyed the chance to be out in God's creation. The greatness of the mountains is an awesome reminder of the greatness of our God!
After the various groups returned to the hotel, for the most part happily exhausted and sunburned, the evening continued with praise and worship, and a sermon by Pastor Jeff Anderson. Dr. Noebel then gave an eye-opening talk on the ideas being presented in most colleges today - the rejection of Christian views and the prevalence of secular humanism and its accompanying ideas. As a soon-to-be college freshman, I found this information very useful to know!
The evening concluded with a video on global warming, showing the flaws, and the political nature of the global warming scare. I had never heard most of the information and found it interesting, despite being very tired from the 14 mile hike earlier in the day!
Summit has been an amazing experience for me so far. I have learned so much from the speakers. The many ideas presented can be overwhelming, but I am so glad to have the opportunity to be here to learn them - I'm looking forward to week two!
