Session 6 | Day 5
Thursday, August 9th, is an amazing day for me and I believe it is true for all the other Summit students and staffs. The first period was about a topic that Christians should be concerned about. Mr. John Stonestreet talked about Bio-ethics. This topic wouldn't have made much sense to us if he hadn't introduced to us the Biblical concept of marriage and enrichment the day before. The previous lesson gave us a better understanding about what God has designed us for from the beginning. Today Mr. Stonestreet shared about the potential that the biotech age has made available to us. The media really just shows us one side of the picture because they wanted to push their agenda on this issue. The big part of the issue, that we have never heard from our public schools or media, was explained to us today under the light of the biblical worldview. We need to think about the ethical stand that God wants us to take and be prepared to defend our faith.
The more we learn about the existing worldview, the more we realize by not sharing our Christian worldview, we are losing in the battle of the mind. Looking at the public schools, media, politics and the law of this nation, we are able to see that the Judeo-Christianity basis has been taken away. Dr. Wayne House helped us to understand more about the intention of the Founding Fathers to establish a country deeply rooted in Christian faith. We really love talking with Dr. House. Tonight we had an open forum section with him in the early evening. We got to have the advantage of discussing with him about contemporary issues related to the government. The discussion was so interesting that none of us wanted it to end so we went about 20 minutes over the time we had. Dr. House really did a great job, he is a man who understands the biblical aspects of American Government. Dr. House helped us to see the close connection between the Judeo-Christianity worldview and the government of United States of America. We are learning how to defend that our worldview is more superior than other worldviews and that it is the ONE and ONLY truth.
We had an awesome speaker today, Dr. Norm Geisler. His lecture was very straight forward about the 12 reasons why Christianity is the Truth. Hearing him present "The Apologetics for Christianity" really amazed us at how logical and scientific our worldview is! If we could just learn all we need to know about our God who we are putting our faith in we CAN'T lose in the battle with other worldviews.
Today has been a great blessing for me and definitely all the other "tigers" (as Doc calls us)!
We are really looking forward to the last day of this session... not because we can leave the Summit and come home with our family... but by that time we will be able to "understand the times we live in" and "know what to do" (Doc promises us).
