Session 5 | Day 13

We woke, tired but excited, on a bright Friday morn, and began our last day at the Summit with sausage and cheese croissant…and orange juice. Dr. Noebel taught Bible Hour and gave us an outline for a thorough yet concise study of "The Book". Then, our debriefing began with a challenge from Chuck Edwards for us to be the salt and light in our world. We're not to be numbered among those who sit around and simply watch things happen in the world around them, but rather we're to be the ones who make things happen for the glory of God. Todd Cothran presented and discussed some resources that are available through Summit, and helped us to determine how we're going to take our worldview home – how we're going to remember our time at Summit. Our morning was concluded with Doc giving us more resources and ideas for putting our worldview into action, and he suggested we read a book a week…to keep us out of jail.

After lunch, two groups set forth – one for the Air Force Academy, the other for Focus on the Family. Those who went enjoyed themselves very much and returned around 4:00pm. Thence began the packing for departure, and preparing for graduation. Supper was at 5:30, and the graduation ceremony started at 7:00. A group of family and friends joined us to witness the commencement of our two week long session. We recited the pledges together (having finally mastered the Christian-flag pledge), sang Amazing Grace, and prayed. The rest of the ceremony included speeches from a couple of staff, violin duets, speeches from a couple of students, "Docisms" in the form of rap, a speech from the man himself, and the presentation of certificates. Then we were treated with a special choir performance from the staff and a sample of the session video.

The reception in the dining hall was a flurry of camera flashes, root beer floats, and goodbye hugs. For me, the time at Summit has seemed to fly by, and yet it seems as if I've known the hotel and the wonderful people here for ages. The valuable information and wisdom learned, as well as the fun and memorable times spent at activities, sports days, and just fellowshipping with others in the faith, made the Summit an incredible and worthwhile experience, and one I'm sure us students are all very grateful for. As Dr. Noebel would put it…we had more fun than a human ought to have!
