Session 5 | Day 11
Today's long but fun day started with the manly man hike and the ladies poolside breakfast. There were about 30 - 35 guys hiking (wow) and about the same amount for the girls.
There were several important things that we learned today. Dr. Bauman taught us about the trinity by teaching what the trinity was not, because in his opinion, that was the best way to explain it. He also made us think a lot by asking us hard questions about what we really believe. We also heard from, Dr. Beckwith, who taught 3 sessions about relativism and abortion.
Several of us participated in a silent protest at Planned Parenthood. While we were there, we got differing reactions from the passers-by. The main reaction was honking. However, there were people who didn't want us to be there, and yelled at us to get a life. We considered this rather ironic, since that was the reason we were protesting in the first place. It was a good way to see how people thought outside the classroom and in real life.
During our free time, we also went in to town to witness. We ended up at the park and talked to 3 teenagers who were just hanging out there. The 2 guys didn't believe that there was anything after death, while the girl thought that you could come back as something else. We had a great time interacting with them and ended up talking for about 45 min.
Tonight was different because we had an auction. The staff sold their services, such as: baking us food, cleaning our rooms, doing our laundry, and dancing, among other talents. The money that was raised will be sent to Sudan for missions, a project Summit has been involved in for several years. We raised about $2,500 for this goal. This was definitely an eventful and fun day. Luckily, there is still more to come.
