Session 5 | Day 10
Oxygen. That wonderful substance that we take for granted. Coming from a state whose highest point is just over 800 feet above sea level, I definitely did. A 15 mile hike to the top of Pike's Peak (14,110 feet above sea level) the other day definitely gave me a much greater appreciation for it. (By the way, over 60 of us completed the incredible, challenging trek and made it to the top!)
In the same way we often take our Christian faith for granted. As we grow up in Christian environments we blindly accept whatever we're taught "because the Bible says so". What happens when we face intellectual "mountains" proposed by friends or professors? We're left "gasping" for answers to these questions. 1 Peter 3:15 says, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks". That's why I love Summit. Since arriving, we've heard from some of the greatest Christian minds of our age, and learned how to 'give an answer' for our faith. The next time I'm faced with a intellectual mountain, I'll certainly be better prepared!
