Session 3 | Day 5

"If you do not engage the culture, the culture will engage you."—Mark Cahill

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..." 1 Peter 3:15

What an incredible summary of the overall teachings of Summit! And what a fitting summary of what truly impacted me in the lectures today. This morning, we had the privilege of hearing Mark Cahill explain the inescapable duty that each one of us has to witness to others about Christ. Although I have heard Mr. Cahill before and have read his books, I was challenged and convicted when I heard him today. I was reminded that, in obedience to God's Word, I must be bold and step outside of my comfort zone to share the love of Christ with a dying world.

In the afternoon session by Chuck Asay, I was reminded of a simple truth that I tend to forget: my struggle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), but against the powers of darkness. At Summit, all of us are being taught to confront non–Biblical worldviews. However, it is easy for me to focus on confronting the person and not the worldview. In Mr. Asay's lecture, I was reminded to treat the person with gentleness and respect, and to focus on fighting their worldview, not them.

For me, Summit is an incredible experience. From the sports to the small groups, from the lectures to the worship, I am challenged to grow in my faith and knowledge in Christ—and, always, to become more like Him.
