Session 3 | Day 12
Up bright and early this morning for a great breakfast prepared by the Kitchen Staff, then devotions led by a staff member. Today's speaker was Dr. Del Tackett of Focus on the Family. He spoke on the subject of Leadership and the Christian history of our founding fathers and their impact on our country. To me, this was very important because of the present state of our country as a whole. We have come so far from the roots of our past. The Christian heritage we have a nation is immense; no matter where you turn in our nation's capitol you can see the past in the present—see the grace of God watching over our nation's leaders.
Before he worked at Focus on the Family, Dr. Tackett worked for our government. Tackett unknowingly received notification from the White House to come and interview for a position to serve the President. He told me after the session that he did not willingly search for this position but that it came out of the blue. Certainly God working in mysterious ways to fulfill His plan to make a difference in our country one person at a time.
Later, after another great meal from the Kitchen, we watched a video regarding the differences between men and women and equality in our society. Quite an interesting movie that made numerous students laugh or clap in agreement. After this video we all went to a local park for Sports Time and a cookout. This is a great time to fellowship with each other and eat some delicious hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by Dr. Noebel as well as learn teamwork through various activities participated in.
As this session draws near an end, I have learned a lot of new things. Dr. Noebel talked numerous times about the worldviews that we live in. This made me think a lot about the current situations in our country and world and seeing how they fit in specific worldviews and why what is happening is happening. Also, I've met a lot of new people from around the country and broadening my horizons. I have been immensely blessed by coming here and shall not forget the lessons learned as I soon enter the "real world" of college and must rely ever more on my faith in my Creator as I face increasing attacks by those that don't know the Truth of our God. A challenge I am a lot more confident in facing after coming to the Summit.
