Session 3 | Day 11
Wow. Today was absolutely amazing. As Doctor Noebel usually says, "...More fun than a human ought to have." This morning, I woke up at about 7:15 am. The previous night was extremely hot, so our room had left the fan on at full blast all night. As I woke up, I was overcome with severe chills. Little did I know, it was going to be quite a cold day.
Breakfast was a little different today. There was a "Manly Man hike" this morning. Those who chose to leave had to hike starting at 6 am. However, at the top of the mountain, they would be greeted with fresh donuts. Those who chose to be lazy and not go on the hike, like me, would get cereal; not the usual amazing gourmet meals that Summit spoils us with. After the cereal, I downed a cup of hot chocolate and sat down for the morning's seminars. Doctor Noebel started out with his Bible Hour. I really enjoyed it, because he was able to condense all the major events in the entire Bible into twenty five key topics. Amazing! Following this, Jeff Meyers spoke to us about Leadership. He was an extremely engaging individual who balanced humor and Biblical truth very well. Even though he talked for 2 hours and 20 minutes, time seemed to pass very quickly. I now feel very confident and prepared if I ever need to take on a leadership role. Lunch was incredibly awesome as always. It was "pita–chicken delight."
Yummy. Then came free time!
During free time, it suddenly got very cold outside. A storm was apparently on its way. Therefore, I chose to stay inside and fellowship with others by means of chess, card games, and talking. A few of my friends ventured to share the gospel in the local downtown. I told them that I would catch up with them, because I really wanted to evangelize as well. I also said, "I'll save you in case a thunderstorm comes along." A few minutes later, a thunderstorm came. I ran out to town to save them. When I reached town, it began to poor like crazy. Then my head was hurting. Then my whole body hurting. I was like, "What's this?" I looked up and a hailstone hit me in the nose. I ran into the closest shop and remained there. I saw my friends in town flash by and I told them to hide in the store with me. To make this short, we got back safely only with a few minor bruises.
Overall, today was amazing. At night we had a brilliant seminar by Dr. Noebel which definitely strengthened my world view towards Christianity. I've never felt so many faithful and worshipful minds combined together under God. The feeling is so good I can't explain it. We ate pizza with our small group leaders. I had four slices. I'm so full and ready to sleep at the Summit's very comfortable beds.
Today's Miracle from God: We were suppose to go picketing at some sort of abortion clinic today. It was going to be a peaceful protest with signs created by Summit kids. However, it was canceled for unknown purposes. This is in fact a miracle, because if a whole bunch of Summit students had been outside of the abortion clinic, they would have been pummeled by the hail. And that would have definitely hurt. Someone could have even died. It was that bad. So even though many were sad that they could not go picketing, it is evident that God provides in many ways. I love it here at the Summit!!
