Session 1 | Day 7
When I woke up Saturday morning, I could tell it was going to be a good day. The sun was shining, the air was filled with the breakfast aroma of sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits. Although we were lacking in the sleep department, we eagerly sat down in softly cushioned classed room seats, to have our daily devotions. David (Stubbsie) shared that the voice of God is silent at some point in everyone's life. There's a point in everyone's life when they go through a difficult time, pray to God, but receive no answer. Sometimes people take this as a sign that God is ignoring them, but God has a bigger, better plan in mind. Jesus Christ chooses to answer prayers when His plan has been fulfilled.
After devotions, Dr. David Noebel began his session with a scripture and thought for the day. His scripture for the day was Proverbs 3:21, saying, "My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight. "You only get out of life what you put into it." Doc Noebel thought for the day. He continued speaking about the reasons for studying the Bible. Two reasons he talked about were that Bible is not un-scientific and that it is not un-historical.
Our third lecture was presented by Mike Haley. He talked about homosexuals and their plan to gain acceptance in our culture. A former homosexual, Mr. Haley was able to provide an inside perspective on the topic.
Relieved after sitting down for three hours, the students joyfully got up from there seats to fill themselves with chili and cornbread. One jubilant experience for the day was when my room (#308) won the daily room cleanliness inspection award (for the third time!). Our prize was being first in line for lunch. Following lunch, the energy filled students packed the school bus for sports time. Many sports were played: basketball, ultimate frisbee, speed volleyball, tennis, and several others. A few chose to take advantage of this time to relax, read, or nap.
Saturday evening started out with everyone heading over to Garden of the Gods for a group picture amidst the scenic view. Due to rainy weather we had to quickly leave the beautiful rock formations behind. From there we proceeded to the Flying W Ranch, where we walked from shop to shop in the old western town. Dinner time rolled around, and everyone was treated to a delicious meal. Along with the "Chuck Wagon Supper" we were entertained by an old school country band.
After a long and tiring day, all the students and staff returned to the Summit Ministries' Hotel hoping for a good night's rest before an eventful Sunday.
